Slapton Community Support Group

Slapton Community Support Group is an official committee of Slapton Parish Council - providing support resources, news and updates for the community and other local interest groups on its work including:

  1. Climate Change: Bio-diversity, reducing the carbon footprint of the parish 
  2. Supporting the adaptation to a changing world: Broadband, A379, Electrification (Houses converting to Electricity power via solar panels, heat pumps, green energy suppliers, hydro-electricity), de-carbonisation,Tourism, Neighbourhood Plan.
  3. Community development and well-being: Community surveys, engagement, volunteering, undertaken by volunteers and/or cllrs under the PC brand/ IOC data processing licence and will underpin the work of the CSG to ensure truly community led.
  4. Crisis management and support: Health and Pandemics, Food Bank collection point, Snow, Fire, flood and road closures

The CSG group welcomes all parishioners with an interest in any of the above topics who wish to contribute their time and/or skills as non-Cllr parishioner volunteers. 

The CSG is also interested in working alongside other local support groups and charities with a special interest in the these topics.

A free virtual conference showcasing innovative, local government-led net-zero projects from throughout the UK and Europe.

The keynote address, workshops, and panel discussion will demonstrate how local action can help support and drive the transition to net-zero. Attendees will gain practical advice from those behind proven successful net-zero local government projects in the areas of transport, energy, housing, land use, greener economies and waste, community involvement and partnership development, and taking a holistic approach.

Slapton All-Stars invite you to help our Hedgehogs! Come along to a FREE community event on Saturday 10th October, 10am - 12 Noon at White Close, Prospect Hill, Slapton.

Work together to build hedgehog hibernation houses from recycled materials. Hedgehog crafts and activities also taking place. For children of Primary School age and their siblings. All children must be accompanied and supervised by parent / carer / adult family member. Please dress for the weather / rough terrain. Event delivered by Slapton Parish Council Community Support Group (CSG) with support from the White Close Trust.
