Slapton Community Foodbank Collection Point - '2021 for 2021' Appeal Update

We are pleased to announce that at the end of June 2021 and 6 months into the campaign, 701 non-perishable items have now been donated plus 8 cash donations totalling £80, putting the '2021 for 2021' Community Food Bank Collection Point Appeal on track to reaching its target. This is thanks to the amazing generosity, kindness and support within our community and from visitors and holiday makers and a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed and continues to contribute in any way to making this possible.

Whilst the roadmap out of lockdown eases many restrictions on society on the 19th July 2021 and thoughts of summer holidays and getting back to a near normal life as possible are top of peoples minds, the path to recovery for many is still uncertain and the pandemic is still running. The campaign still has some way to go and we know that everyone has already given far more than expected but if you can still continue to help in any way, this is so appreciated and will ensure that our local Kingsbridge and Dartmouth food banks can continue helping our local communities through these very challenging times.

About the Slapton food bank collection point and our local Kingsbridge and Dartmouth food banks:

  • The food bank drop off point is managed by Cllr Shirley Sullock and donations go to Kingsbridge and Dartmouth food banks and are very kindly being taken each week by volunteers Shirley and Will Sullock and David Goodwin. Steve and Vanessa who are managers at the campsite & Matt a local parishioner. All continue to work hard to provide essential resources to our local food banks during this continuing difficult time.
  • Our local food bank does so much more than provide food, such as emergency top-ups for mobile phones and key meters, providing a listening ear and practical support to access help with rent, council tax arrears, claiming benefits and signposting to information.
  • Should you wish to make a contribution, no matter how large or small, read the useful guides below which list what non-perishable items are required, how to donate much needed cash, (either as a one off donation, by regular standing order or direct debit via Just Giving) and an overview of their services.

More information on our local food banks:

Food bank drop off point opening hours (Same as the Post Office Hours) located in the reception area at Slapton Village Hall:

  • Monday: 1pm - 3pm
  • Thursday: 10am - 12pm

Thank you everyone for your continued support and just to mention our amazing village shop and volunteers who continue to be there for us all during this very challenging period and perhaps to purchase a few spare items for the food bank drop-off point from the shop as you are shopping/passing by as this really does help to make a difference to both the shop as well as the food banks and local communities.
